Discover Stage

Kindergarten–1st Grade | Ages 5–7

The journey begins with curiosity.

In the Discover stage, students build the foundational skills that support lifelong learning. Young learners are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and develop confidence as they begin their academic journey.

Teachers focus on creating a supportive environment where curiosity is celebrated and students feel excited about learning.

Explore Stage

Grades 2–3 | Ages 7–9

In the Explore stage, students begin expanding their understanding of the world.

As their skills grow, students are encouraged to ask deeper questions, explore new ideas, and make connections across subjects. Learning becomes more active as students build independence and confidence in their abilities.

Students in this stage develop:

• Stronger reading, writing, and math skills
• Independent thinking and questioning
• Curiosity-driven learning
• Collaboration and teamwork

Investigate Stage

Grades 4–5 | Ages 9–11

In the Investigate stage, students begin digging deeper into learning.

Students are encouraged to analyze ideas, research questions, and think critically. They learn how to evaluate information, explore multiple perspectives, and develop thoughtful solutions.

• Critical thinking and analysis
• Research and investigation skills
• Problem-solving strategies
• Greater academic independence

Ignite Stage

Grades 6–10 | Ages 11–15

During the Ignite stage, students begin discovering their passions and strengths.

This is a time when learning becomes more personal. Students are encouraged to explore interests, apply knowledge to real-world problems, and develop independence in their learning.

Teachers guide students as they begin shaping their academic goals and developing the skills needed for future success.

Launch Stage

Grades 11–12 | Ages 16–18

The final stage prepares students to step confidently into the future.

During the Launch stage, students refine their skills, develop leadership abilities, and prepare for life beyond high school. Whether their next step is college, career training, or entrepreneurship, students graduate ready to pursue their goals with confidence.

• Advanced academic and critical thinking skills
• Leadership and responsibility

Why Our Stages Overlap in Age

Students begin school at different ages and develop at different paces. Because of this, you may see overlapping age ranges between stages.

This allows Roman Avery Academy to focus on student readiness and growth, ensuring that students develop the skills they need before progressing to the next stage of learning.
